?: What are the advantages of tummy tuck?
A:

It also is used to tighten the abdominal muscles which have become loose and weak with time or due to pregnancy. It can give you a tighter, flatter stomach and remove or reduce the appearance of stretch marks on your lower abdomen. The operation can remove folds of skin left behind after losing a lot of weight, and tighten stretched skin and muscles after pregnancy.

?: How is it different From Weight Loss Procedure?

  • Pregnancy
  • Aging
  • Significant fluctuations in weight
  • Heredity

?: So how its done?
A:

There are various different types of Abdominoplasty/ Tummy Tuck procedure, but 2 of the most common are Mini Tummy Tuck/Abdominoplasty or a Full Tummy Tuck/Abdominoplasty.

?: What is a mini tummy tuck?
A:

Some patients may have relatively little excess skin and fat that may not be adequately treated by liposuction alone. In these cases, a "Mini" Tummy Tuck or 'Mini' Abdominoplasty may be a good option. Less skin and fat is removed and less dissection is performed.

?: What is a full tummy tuck?
A:

A full Tummy Tuck or 'full' Abdominoplasty is the larger of the 2 techniques, still using the same incisions but removing much more excess skin.

?: How will it be performed?
A:

The exact procedure for each individual is determined only after a full examination and consultation is completed. You will have to explain all your requirements to your surgeon and surgeon will guide you what is best for you.

?: Is there anything I should do before surgery?
A:

Products that contain Aspirin, Vitamin E, or Evening Primrose oil should be avoided for three weeks before surgery. Alcoholic drinks should be avoided before surgery. You must wash your hair the day before the operation and make up must be thoroughly removed. You must fast (neither eat or drink) for 6 hours before the operation.

Patients should not smoke for at least 2 weeks before surgery and for a few days after surgery. Smoking interferes with the circulation of blood to the skin. If the patient tints, dyes or bleaches his or her hair, this should be done no later than one week before surgery. If you are intending on losing weight you will get the best result if you do this before having your procedure!

?: How much time is needed for full recovery?
A:

Patients are instructed to rest for the first 24 hours after surgery. Light walking is recommended as soon as possible. Most patients will engage in light activities after about 5 days. Drains are used to help remove excess fluid from the site of surgery. These are usually removed after one week. A compressive abdominal binder is also worn during this time. Most patients return to light chores and activities after a week and a half. Patients tend to return to full activities after approximately 3-4 weeks.
